“Learning Never Stops” – Youth Education Day
On November 21st, SME hosted its annual Youth Education Day, a collaboration with local high school DECA clubs. Students who are interested in sales and marketing careers came together with professionals in these fields for a morning of learning that included:
- Working in teams to develop mock marketing campaigns and presenting the campaign to their peers and business professionals
- Learning from panel discussions of accomplished sales and marketing leaders
- Getting their “burning questions” about sales and marketing careers answered
- Hearing a keynote presentation from John Baker, author of The Asking Formula
In place for over 25 years, this year’s Youth Education Day included approximately 100 students from six area high schools. It was an inspiring morning and something we recommend all SME members attend in the future!
SME Peer Groups
To supplement the 7:44 Breakfast Series, SME members have the opportunity to participate in small peer group discussions. Peer groups allow members to openly discuss their business challenges, gain valuable insight from other business leaders and engage in peer-to-peer learning.
SME currently offers two peer groups – one focused on leadership issues and the other driven by members’ interests and business challenges. All peer groups are conducted in a confidential manner, allowing members the opportunity to candidly share their trials, successes and current issues. Experienced leaders facilitate the groups, giving members an opportunity to address their business challenges and add input to the value of the conversation. The cost of participation in peer groups is included with your annual SME membership.
